Senior Principal Consultant

Through OHSEC Consultants, Craig provides practical WHS support to principal contractors and subcontractors across high-rise, commercial and residential construction projects. His assignments include embedded site advisory support, project start-up, and independent audits of WHS management plans, emergency response arrangements, project risk assessments and subcontractor SWMS. He designs and implements WHS management systems to ISO 45001, prepares site-specific SWMS and reworks rejected ones, and helps clients respond to WHSQ improvement and prohibition notices.

Craig works with project teams to investigate incidents and near misses using ICAM, strengthen high-risk construction work controls and convert audit findings into practical corrective actions. He reviews psychosocial hazards and worker wellbeing, including fatigue, fitness for work, heat stress and return-to-work obligations under the Queensland 2022 Code of Practice, and delivers site inductions and toolbox talks. His recent work has covered working at heights, temporary works, formwork and concrete activities, cranes and lifting operations, mobile plant, public-interface risk and psychosocial hazards, supported by clear reporting to project and senior management and grounded in PCBU and officer due diligence obligations under the Queensland WHS Act.

Subcontractor | PCBU WHS Safety Lead

Craig held primary legal and operational responsibility as a licensed subcontractor PCBU, directing an 18-person, multi-trade structural concrete subcontractors on commercial and high-density residential projects valued up to $100 million. He maintained full accountability for SWMS, JSAs and incident reporting to principal contractors and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.

During this 13-year relationship, Craig directed SWMS-based hazard controls for high-risk construction work involving falls from heights, mobile plant, hot work, confined-space entry and electrical risks. He participated in ICAM-aligned incident investigations, strengthened pre-start planning and SWMS revision processes, and supported his workforce through Queensland’s transition from the WH&S Act 1995 to the WHS Act 2011.

Apr 1996 - Feb 2007

QBCC Subcontractor | PCBU WHS Site Coordinator

Craig supervised workplace health and safety for structural concrete work on Mirvac residential and multi-residential developments across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. His team grew from three to fifteen workers, requiring stronger supervision, hazard identification, JSA development and workplace consultation as Queensland’s WH&S Act 1995 came into effect.

He managed risks associated with working at heights, mobile plant and hazardous manual tasks while meeting Mirvac’s site safety requirements. Craig maintained the nine-year subcontracting relationship through consistent JSA preparation, reliable hazard reporting, workforce consultation and the safe, timely completion of formwork, steel-fixing and concreting work.

QBSA Independent Subcontractor

Craig established his formwork, steel-fixing and concreting business in 1992, working for AV Jennings Homes and other builders across Brisbane, Ipswich and South East Queensland under QBSA Gold Licence No. 55623. His career spans the full evolution of workplace safety law in Queensland, from personal responsibility under the pre-1995 duty of care framework, through the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995, to the current Work Health and Safety Act 2011. This experience gives him a practical understanding of how safety responsibilities have developed over more than three decades.
